The National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) has officially opened the certificate and diploma admission window for the 2026/2027 academic year.

Admission Window Opens May 28, 2026
First Round Application Deadline July 10, 2026

Understanding the Application Pathways

Applicants must separate their application channel based entirely on the specific program type and location:

A. Health and Allied Sciences Programmes (Tanzania Mainland)

If you are pursuing health-related courses within mainland Tanzania, your submission must go through NACTVET’s Central Admission System (CAS). This includes:

  • Clinical Medicine & Medical Laboratory Sciences
  • Nursing and Midwifery
  • Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Environmental Health

B. Non-Health Programmes and Zanzibar Institutions

If you are choosing non-medical routes—or any program at a college located in Zanzibar—do not use the CAS system. You must apply directly to the college via their individual admission portal. This covers fields such as:

  • Engineering & Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Business, Management, Tourism, and Planning
  • Education and Teaching
  • Agriculture and Allied Technologies

General Admission Requirements

Ensure your secondary school credentials align with these official baseline standards before applying:

  • Ordinary Level (CSEE) Route: Minimum of four (4) passes (Grade D or above) in non-religious subjects.
  • VETA Qualification Route: National Vocational Award (NVA) Level III matching at least two (2) passes in your CSEE.
  • Specialized Health Minimums: Competitive health programs have stricter subject gates. For example, a Diploma in Nursing requires a minimum Grade C in both Biology and Chemistry, alongside passes in Physics and English.

2.Create a CAS Portal Account:Step 2.

For mainland health streams, access tvetims.nacte.go.tz. Provide your active email, working phone number, and your Form Four index number to generate an applicant profile.

3.Settle Application Fees:Step 3.

Obtain an official government Control Number through your portal profile. The fee is 15,000 TZS per individual institution option, with a maximum cap of 45,000 TZS for up to 12 choices. Pay via any commercial bank branch or mobile money merchant.

4.Track Your Verification Code:Step 4.

Following the selection process, NACTVET automatically distributes a specific text verification code (msimbo) to successful candidates. Retain this code safely; it must be delivered to your respective college campus on registration day to validate enrollment.

Editorial Trust Factor: After completing physical registration at your center, log into www.nactvet.go.tz and click the Student’s Information Verification link to ensure your campus has fully uploaded your status to the national council database.

For a complete visual walkthrough explaining how to navigate the portal on your phone, see this NACTVET Admission Guidebook Walkthrough which details how to pick courses, verify codes, and avoid mistakes that lead to rejection.
